isn’t this what professional investors do? As in using their investments to pay for their daily bills? You have forgotten to add that one should start a business because most investment gurus say that one should start a business to move more quickly towards financial independence. I have been using CDs this way for years. And yes, I’m taking a hit right now. However, income investors like myself can still do okay. I have recently invested in longer term CDs because of the lower rates.

Investing is all about managing your risk. As the article said taking into account your risk tolerance. I know many friends this past year who watched their 401K slip down 40-60%. That is not investing in their future at all!

I like the advice about not taking out too much capital. The magic of compounding is amazing.
