This is a good article with useful tips. I have written a few articles about this as well. I happen to use the “Money Savvy” piggy bank with my kids (ages 7 and 9) and it has been fantastic. The 10/10/10/70 rule of savings has also been great in getting them to allocate their “earnings” (allowance). Looking forward to more good posts on this topic!

Good article. It will make a kid understand when a family cannot spend much in tough times and the whole money mgmt. However one needs to keep a balance of not letting the kid think about money and keey a balance .

This is a really good article on teaching your children to save which is important. Part of the problem we have in America is that most parents don’t know how to save, let along teach their kids.
As parents we need to start by doing it ourselves. I like the old saying that you “pay yourself first”. As soon as you get paid, you place money in a savings account. I have found that online savings accounts like http://www.ingdirect.com are very useful because you once you transfer the money, you kind of forget about it. I would recommend anyone to their site to look at their accounts. You can also go to my site for more information on savings and other free finance info and tools.
