Thanks for stopping by! Nope, you have to actually be earning taxable income to open an IRA. Which is why they invented the spousal IRA. They realized that stay at home parents couldn't save up for retirement, and thought that being recognized as married meant that something should be offered. We’re doing this, but I didn’t know it was specifically called a Spousal IRA. I just assumed every person, regardless of employment status could contribute to a Roth IRA. Good to know.
